About us

Young students learning computer skills together
Hands-on Learning

YoungAfroTech is a program dedicated to helping young people gain essential computer skills, focusing especially on those who don't have access to computers at home or school. We take them from the basics to the real world—teaching them how computers work, hardware and software parts, typing, the Microsoft Office suite, internet usage, digital communication, and so much more.

Our goal is to create opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and become confident using technology in their daily lives, education, and future careers. We believe digital skills are no longer optional in today's world—they are necessary tools for success.

Many young people in our communities still struggle because they have never had the chance to use a computer before. YoungAfroTech was created to help close that gap by providing access, practical learning, and a supportive environment where students can explore technology without fear.

Our Mission

To provide young people with access to computers and the practical digital skills needed to create, communicate, and succeed in the digital world.

Our Vision

A future where every young person in our community has the digital skills they need for their tomorrow.

What We Offer

Our Programs

Too many young people are left behind simply because they don't have access to computers. At YoungAfroTech, we are working to change that by providing practical digital skills training that helps young people learn, grow, and create better opportunities for their future.

Basic Computer Skills

We introduce young people to the fundamentals of computer use in a simple, practical way. This includes understanding how a computer works, identifying hardware and software components, developing typing skills, learning how to browse the internet, managing files, and using essential Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Computer Repair & Maintenance

This program equips young people with basic technical skills to care for and troubleshoot computers. Learners are introduced to hardware installation, software installation, system updates, and common problem-solving techniques.

Digital Literacy

We support young people to become safe, responsible, and informed digital users. This includes understanding how to communicate effectively online, practicing internet safety, developing research skills, using email, and learning how to navigate digital spaces responsibly.

Web Development & Programming

Through support from contributors and volunteers, we introduce students to modern technology skills such as web development and basic programming. Students get exposure to coding fundamentals, website creation, and problem-solving through technology.

Basic Networking

Students learn the fundamentals of computer networking, including how devices connect, internet basics, routers, local networks, and basic troubleshooting of network-related problems.

Creative Digital Skills

We introduce students to creative technology skills such as graphic design, Canva, content creation, video editing, and social media design. These skills help young people express creativity, build confidence, and explore new opportunities.

Our Journey

Our Impact

YoungAfroTech is still at the beginning of its journey. We are currently building the foundation to bring digital skills training to young people in our community. Even at this early stage, our focus remains clear: to create access, build confidence, and open opportunities through technology.

Building First Learning Opportunities

We are creating the first spaces where young people can start learning basic computer skills and get hands-on experience with technology.

Introducing Digital Awareness

We are helping young people who have never used a computer before understand what technology is and why it matters in today's world.

Laying the Foundation for Growth

We are developing a program structure that will allow us to reach more learners as we grow and gain support.

Creating Awareness in the Community

We are starting conversations around digital skills and the importance of computer literacy for education and employment.

YoungAfroTech is at the beginning, but the mission is big.

With time, support, and commitment, we aim to grow into a program that truly changes lives.
